Will Gioia, Chief Pie Slinger & Culinary Mentor

Karen and Will met on the first day of school at The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY. And so the journey began…. Collectively, their culinary journey includes: 6 months in one star Restaurant des Peintres in the Cote D'Azur, Oliveto, alongside Paul Bertolli and Michael Tusk, Chez Panisse, with Alice Waters and David Tanis, Zuni Café collaborating with Judy Rodgers…… You get the picture. The epitome of the Bay Area farm driven restaurant community. They opened Gioia Pizzeria Berkeley in 2004. Their greatest accomplishment, Julian (sweet and spicy like the pizza) was born in 2008. Gioia Pizzeria SF was opened in 2012.
